Do all Dating Christian Singles have a SOULMATE from God?

Could it be true that all Dating Christian Singles have a soul-mate from God? It’s a question not only asked by Christians Singles looking for love. So, the question is, has God, the Supreme Being, the sole creator and ruler of the universe, created the perfect partner and mate for each of us? An exclusive someone that we could share that prized perfect love with. A God ordained, perfectly matched partner, allowing two individuals to be blessed with a deeply fulfilling, intimate, romantic relationship, and unconditional love connection. Or is the very word SOULMATE just a foolish, romantic worldly notion.

When most Dating Christians use the word SOULMATE, they are referring to finding or even a God given, divine intimate relationship. In this context we can assume the definition of the term soul-mate, means a natural or divine compatibility to another human being, with the implication of an exclusive romantic relationship and marriage.

Does not every man deep down long to be Jerry Maguire, Whispering, “You complete me”, to their very own Dorothy, Does not every women hope to have her own Jerry Maguire, pouring his heart out to her, declaring his undying love. Or is watching a movie the closet most of us will ever get to feeling so connected to another human being.

You see, while it may take some Christian Singles a while to figure it out. Our relationships are the most important things in our lives. Our relationships and the quality of our most important relationships, will ultimately define us, make us, or even break us. After our relationship with God, the relationship between a husband and his wife is the most important relationship we will ever pursue. Ephesians 5:25 – “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her”. Joy comes from all loving relationships, not processions. Most of our regrets and heartaches involve the loss of such relationships. 1 John 4:7 – “Dear friends, let us practice loving each other, for love comes from God and those who are loving and kind show that they are the children of God, and that they are getting to know him better”.

What does the bible teach Christian Singles about love

God is love and God designed us to love and be loved. “And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him” (1 John 4:16). This teaches us that to love God and to love others is how we grow our relationship and become closer to the Lord.

Matthew 22:36-39 – “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself”.

Jesus teaches us here that we must love the Lord our God above all else (with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind). After God we must love our neighbor as we love ourselves. To love God is to treat his people with loving-kindness.

OK, so let us take a step backwards! Jesus commands us to love an intangible God. This is where many of us can struggle. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind’. How many of us struggle to have such a loving relationship with the Lord. To love our neighbor is also not going to come easy to many of us. If we can forgive and show love and respect to people who are hard to love, we can come to understand how deep God’s love is for us. The more we love others, the easier it becomes to love other people and God. The relationships with the people that come into our lives allow each of us to bath in an expression of God’s love through our interactions. REMEMBER THIS: Love is one thing you can give away and get more in return.

The apostle John said, “He who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen” (1 John 4:20). By loving others we show our love for God, or our love for God is revealed by our love for others. “The man who is right with God is a teacher to his neighbor, but the way of the sinful leads them the wrong way” (Proverbs 12:26).

SO, God loves us, teaches and comforts us through the healthy relationships we have with those in our lives. We also learn to love God through these same relationships. God shows us his nature through some of the people that he puts in our lives. All good things come from above. “But whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God, the Creator of all light, and he shines forever without change or shadow” (James 1:17).

So if our relationships are so important to our personal growth with God and others, how much more so through our closet earthy relationship, that with our, Wife or Husband, or SOULMATE for Dating Christian Singles.

GOD’S SOULMATE OR DO I HAVE TO FIND THE ONE JUST RIGHT FOR ME MYSELF

Then the Lord God said, “I see that it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make the companion he needs, one just right for him” (Genesis 2:18).

For the very first time in the Bible, in Genesis 2:18 God declares something as not good! Up until this point, God has seen everything he has made as good or very good, including Adam the first man. All that God had created in the world was perfect in form, function, and potential until Genesis 2:18. Now something was not right.

From the very beginning God makes it clear that it is not good for man to be alone. God did not design human beings to live in solitude. In Genesis God declares that he will make a suitable companion for Man, “One Just Right for Him”.

So would our loving heavenly father give each of his children and Christian Singles a suitable loving relationship? In Genesis 2 – God creates Eve to be Adam’s companion and wife, setting the original example of God’s design for marriage. It should be noted that God PRESENTED Eve to Adam. God gave EVE to ADAM. ……. Adam did not go LOOKING for his suitable companion. His suitable companion was GIVEN to him! Eve was given to Adam in God’s timing.

Genesis 2:22 – “God put the Man into a deep sleep. As he slept he removed one of his ribs and replaced it with flesh. God then used the rib that he had taken from the Man to make Woman and presented her to the Man”.

From Genesis 2:18 Many Christians believe that God creates a soulmate or selects the perfect love for all of us. It simply requires that we TRUST IN and WAIT ON THE LORD!

Psalm 37:4 – “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart”.

Matthew 6:33- “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”.

I believe that most of us and most Dating Christian Singles are called into an exclusive relationship and marriage. I also believe that under our relationship with God there is no human relationship of greater important. The gift of marriage is God’s greatest gift of relationship. Your marriage can quite literally make you or break you! Studies show that Couples who argued for decades are more likely to develop heart disease. Research shows bad relationships lead to health problems. Stress from a bad marriage may be harmful because of declining immune function and frailty, say researchers. I wonder how many of us never reach our full potential in the many aspects of life due to the person we marry. This is why so many Dating Christian Singles cling to the idea of a Soulmate from God. They understand that a good match will help them excel in every area of their lives. A bad match could lead to failure, misery and regret.

Far more than emotional happiness is at stake for Dating Christian Singles! Your very salvation could depend of your marriage or the person you commit to.  Would God standby and allow Christian Singles to risk so much in their choice of partner or would God provide their perfect partner (a SoulMate). Similar health studies find that a happy marriage has all kinds of positive health effects on us, both physical and mental.

God desires for us to be happy. The only way to find happiness, more than anything fleeting is through him. God created us and knows us better than we know ourselves. Romans 15:13 – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”. John 16:24 – “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full”. Proverbs 16:20 – “He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he”. Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

So, has God a SOULMATE for all Dating Christian Singles or is there more than one person that would be suitable for each of them and is it up to each Christian Single to pick the right person for them? I think, the answer is both YES and NO! The bible is not clear of this issue. We know that God knows everything, past, present and into the future. The same God that knew us before birth knows who will be our future spouse. Galatians 1:15 “But God had special plans for me even before I was born. So he chose me through his grace”.

God is sovereign and has ultimate power and control over all things. However, there is something of far greater danger to all of us, than the dangers of marrying the wrong person. What greater danger is there than the danger of separation from God. Isaiah 59:2 – “It is your sins that separate you from your God. He turns away from you when he sees them”.

When God created Eve for Adam, Adam was sinless. What separates us from God is our sinful nature. Romans 3:23 – “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. I believe that is the reason that most of us and most Dating Christian Singles will have to make do with FINDING A GOOD WIFE OR HUSBAND!, rather than waiting for our SOULMATE. God loves us! God is deeply interested in each of us and all things in or lives. There are times when God is directly involved in our lives, including guiding us to a suitable mate. God is most interested in the principles we use in our lives that honor him and bring us closer to him. This includes our choice of mate. At the end of the day, it’s about FREEWILL! We can make choices that Honor God and Bless Us or we can do otherwise. Ultimately, it’s about excepting responsibility for our actions and their outcomes spiritually.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Sometimes referred to as”The Prince of Preachers” said, “Free will carried many a soul to hell, but never a soul to heaven”. Isaiah 55:6-7 – “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon”.

Dating Christian Singles seeking a wife or husband should begin in the same way as with all our plans and desires, in prayer and the word. Mark 11:24 – Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours”). The bible has much to say about the type of person we should marry and commit to. 2 Corinthians 6:14 – “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness”.

Proverbs 31:26-31 – She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.

Finally, Trust in the Lord! Whether God DOES or DOES NOT have a predestined soul-mate you, God desires to lead you and me everyday toward good and healthy decisions that honor him and bless us. Rejoice in the Lord! Focus on the Lord! Be grateful for what you do have and trust in the Lord to provide what you desire and do not have. Romans 12:12 –  “Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and prayerful always”. Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses”.

Let us make choices that Honor God and Bless Us!
